In his last semester at UMass Amherst as a graduate student in composition, Mike received recognition from Down Beat Magazine as an Outstanding Soloist in the Blues/Pop/Rock category and as an arranger in the Jazz Arrangement category for his vocal arrangement of “Scarborough Fair”. UMass’ Jazz Ensemble I also won the Blues/Pop/Rock ensemble category.
Very excited to present some new music and arrangements up in Lowell on Dec. 8 and 9! Both sets will feature Alex Lee-Clark, Carlos Pino, and Sebastian Garzon. The Thursday set’s at Lowell’s Luna Theater, and Friday we’re at The Hearing Room. Check out the links below for more information!
Very happy to announce that Mike’s composition “Time to Go” from the City of Four debut album, recorded and mixed by Craig H Caudill, won 2nd Place in the Abbey Road Studios/Mix Magazine’s Best Mix
competition. The judges consisted of the Abbey Road Mastering Team. Special thanks to City of Four bandmates Christian Tremblay, Steve Kerr, and Lucas Apostoleris for contributing their musical talents and to Mr. Craig Caudill for the award-winning production.
Very excited to announce that Mike’s piece, “Scalene Scene”, was selected as a winner of the 360ᵒ Jazz Initiative’s 2015 call for scores. The piece will be performed by the group this coming spring at the Sharp Nine Jazz Club (http://www.durhamjazzworkshop.org/) in Durham, NC!
